Dainese Scarpa Technical Sneaker | SR Tested Product Review

The Scarpa Technical Sneaker makes for a nice casual shoe that can be worn to and from the office

For the better part of last year we had wrapped our feet in Dainese’s Scarpa Technical Sneaker. While not a replacement for full-protection race boots or the footwear we’d don while testing on canyon roads, the Scarpa Technical Sneaker makes for a nice casual shoe that can be worn to and from the office. Protection, albeit minimal, comes from a polyurethane heel and nylon inserts at the ankle, the latter of which were enough to keep our malleolus injury free during a sub-25-mph tip-over. The lacing system on these shoes is more worthy of applause, as it allows you to easily cinch the lace down and clasp the excess thread to the shoe’s lateral edge using a snap button. This ensures the lace won’t get caught on the footpeg or any other hard parts while riding—and it works.

Despite having a handful of mesh panels the sneaker doesn’t breathe incredibly well, but the shoe is all-day comfortable, fits true to size (wider, thankfully, than riding shoes we’ve worn previously), and has held up well to continued abuse. We’ve even received a ton of compliments from people who would’ve never guessed it was a riding shoe.
