Here's one for the what'll-they-think-of-next file: a funnel with a built-in light. It's the Funnel Vision ($9.95) from Funnel Vision USA (www.funnelvisionusa.com). In every respect but one, there is nothing special about the funnel itself. It's made of firm but flexible plastic, is 5 inches in diameter at its widest point and will fit into the various filler openings on just about any motorcycle—as well as those on your car, truck, lawnmower, Harley-powered margarita blender, etc.

So, any time all you need is a regular funnel of about this size, the Funnel Vision is just that—a regular funnel. But if some illumination is called for, such as adding oil in an unlighted driveway at night or topping up a rear-brake master cylinder in a dark corner of your garage, the Funnel Vision provides—if you'll excuse the terrible pun—a light at the end of the funnel. Ouch! Pushing a little On/Off button on the side of the funnel turns on a bright LED that shines a surprising amount of light downward, allowing you to see exactly where to insert the spout or to know when the fluid level has reached the desired height.

At first, this may seem like a frivolous, unnecessary tool; but once you use it in a darkened area, you might end up thinking of it as one of the best $10 purchases you’ve ever made.
