2010 Ducati Multistrada 1200 - First Look

Off-road-ready with Ducati 1198 V-Twin power!

Rumors of a new Ducati Multistrada bristling with the latest technology have been circulating for a while. Now, Ducati has confirmed that the 2010 model will be called the Multistrada 1200. Official unveiling will take place on November 9 at the EICMA 2009 International Motorcycle Show in Milan, Italy, where Cycle World European Correspondent Bruno dePrato will be on hand to file a full report.

Ducati is being a real tease and only giving us a glimpse of the front of the bike. From that image, however, we can see a far greater resemblance to the current generation of Ducati superbikes than that of the previous-generation 999 family, which, like the original Multistrada, was penned by Pierre Terblanche.

Ducati promises that the Multistrada 1200 will be true to its original concept, which is to say that it will offer sportbike technology allied with a comfortable, upright seating position and excellent versatility on all road surfaces, including dirt! Apparently, the engine is a liquid-cooled, four-valve-per-cylinder V-Twin 1198 Testastrettasourced from the 1198superbike and tuned to offer unprecedented smoothness and tractability.
