2022 Jack Daniel’s Limited Edition Indian Challenger Dark Horse Revealed

In what’s become an annual tradition, Indian has taken the wraps off its latest über-limited custom creation, collaborating for the sixth year running with Jack Daniel’s whiskey. This year the Jack Daniel’s Limited Edition bike is based on Indian’s Challenger model and, as always, pays homage to a product in the whiskey-maker’s portfolio; in this case, it’s the brand’s Tennessee Rye whiskey.

Bikes touting booze seems like an odd coupling, but clearly the whole century-old American brand-pairing thing goes together like, uh, Jack and Coke. In any case, the Indian-Jack partnership started up in 2016, and six years later, the formula is still firing on all cylinders, with most of the actual design and build duties coming from the team at Klock Werks Kustom Cycles. For 2022 the new bike is officially dubbed the Jack Daniel’s Limited Edition Indian Challenger Dark Horse, and in keeping with the name, will have a production run of just 107 units.

As you’ve heard, this year’s custom is based on the liquid-cooled Challenger wearing Dark Horse trim, which wears black paint in most of the engine bay, the exhaust, the wheels, and other parts. The Challenger Dark Horse trim level already adds premium features like Indian’s Pathfinder LED headlight, a six-axis Bosch IMU, a hydraulically adjustable Fox rear shock, and Indian’s onboard Ride Command infotainment system, but the Jack Daniel’s bikes go a bit further.

First and foremost had to be the focus on Tennessee Rye whiskey, which the Klock Werks crew tackled via a series of carefully curated accents, details, and badges. Custom Rye Metallic paint with gold and green accents and featuring several carefully placed JD logos is the most obvious treatment, followed by custom engraved floorboards bearing a stylized rye imprint. But probably the most obvious sign that this is a collab project comes from the Jack Daniel’s Montana Silversmiths badges prominently displayed between the jugs, as well as the genuine leather, custom-stitched seat that wears a large Jack Daniel’s logo.

This Challenger also adds more premium features to the mix, stuff like Indian’s top-of-the-line PowerBand Audio sound system which packs on fairing and saddle speakers, and claims to be 50 percent louder than the stock system. Then there’s the slick Pathfinder adaptive headlight, which boosts illumination based on lean angle and the addition of Pathfinder LED driving lights, as well as a stylish flared windscreen and a low-rise handlebar, to name just a few extra goodies.

To reiterate, the Jack Daniel’s Challenger will have a limited run of just 107 units worldwide, which will become available for preorder starting next week. Each Limited Edition bike also includes a custom bike mat bearing the corresponding motorcycle number of the production run (from No. 001 to No. 107).

All this limited-edition stuff doesn’t come cheap, and the Jack Daniel’s Limited Edition Indian Challenger carries an MSRP of $36,999. You can also only get it through Indian Motorcycle dealerships, with the order window opening on October 21, 2021, at 12 p.m. EST. The Jack Daniel’s Challenger Dark Horse will be built as a 2022 model-year machine, with deliveries starting as soon as the end of October.
