Ninety-One-Year-Old Woman Hits Triple Digits On Suzuki GSX-R1000 At Road America

Broaster Chicken's Rochelle Simms joins Superbike racer Chris Ulrich for a lap of “America’s National Park of Speed”

Rochelle Simms is not only the oldest person who has ever participated in the Dunlop M4 Suzuki Two-Seat Superbike Program, she is also a director and a member of the executive board of The Broaster Company, title sponsor for the Genuine Broaster Chicken Honda CBR1000RR SP2 raced in the MotoAmerica Superbike Series by Jake Gagne.

“I had an opportunity to do something I thought would be an experience that I had never done,” the petite, gray-haired Simms told the MotoAmerica cameras at Road America, Round 4 of the championship. “I enjoy a little speed—under control.” Without hesitating, she added, “I don’t mind you asking. I’m 91.”

Jay Cipra, CEO of The Broaster Company, explained how Simms’ participation in the two-up experience came about. “We were in a board meeting and I announced that we were going to do a two-year partnership with RoadRace Factory and the Honda Racing team.” Simms turned to him and said, “I want to ride on that motorcycle.”

Because Simms admitted that she likes to go fast, that's exactly what she got. In the video, you can see the digital speedometer indicating 112 mph as former Superbike racer Chris Ulrich clicks through the gearbox on the black GSX-R1000. Rebranded earlier this year, the Dunlop M4 Suzuki Two-Seat Superbike Program is now in its 17th year of operation.

Not just for VIPs, two-seat rides with Ulrich are open to the public on race-weekend Sundays for people who purchase a $300 ticket package, which includes event admission and a $250 donation to the Roadracing World Action Fund (RWAF), a 501(c)(3) non-profit focusing on improving racetrack safety through the deployment of soft barriers.
