MotoAmerica Superbike Champion Toni Elias To Make American Flat Track Debut

Yoshimura Suzuki will field RM-Z450 for Spaniard in Singles class at Southern California's Perris Auto Speedway

MotoAmerica Superbike Champion Toni Elias will make his American Flat Track competition debut on Saturday, October 7, at the Cycle Gear American Flat Track Finals presented by Indian Motorcycle at Perris Auto Speedway in Perris, California. The 34-year-old Spaniard has entered the Singles class on a Yoshimura Suzuki RM-Z450.

Elias is no stranger to wearing a steel shoe. He is a regular at the annual Superprestigio Dirt Track invitational in Barcelona, finishing second last year to three-time MotoGP World Champion Marc Marquez. He also competed in the US version of that event two years ago in Las Vegas.

The former Moto2 world champion says he is anticipating the challenge of racing a half-mile. "Every year we are improving, learning new things," he said, "and I think this will be a good way to improve more, to continue learning, and to prepare for Barcelona this year.”

Yoshimura Suzuki will provide trackside support for Elias. “Obviously, Toni enjoys the flat-track experience and is excited about the opportunity to race the Perris finale,” said Don Sakakura, Senior VP of Yoshimura R&D of America. “We are all looking forward to the new experience.”
