The United States Naval Air Station in Lemoore, California, has a glorious three-mile runway that’s usually abuzz with F/A-18 Super Hornets practicing carrier landings and going off on missions that shall remain secret. But on this day, Lemoore’s perfectly smooth strip of sectional concrete plays host to “Turn & Burn II,” a Cycle World test in which four superbikes (the BMW S1000RR, Ducati 1299 Panigale S, Kawasaki H2, and Yamaha YZF-R1M) square off against two supercars (the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 and McLaren P1) in an accelerative contest to 180 mph and beyond. Will these potent bikes obliterate these four-wheeled cages, or will the immensely more powerful cars pound these superbikes into submission? Watch our video and find out. And don’t hesitate to press the pause button when we you want to study all the performance data, which is presented in one spot for handy comparisons.
