Overview

Aspiring motocross racers of all sizes demand the best when it comes to lightweight performance and capable suspension to attack the track. Yamaha’s YZ85 and YZ85LW big wheel are geared toward these young, hungry riders looking to hone their skills. The standard YZ85 rides on a 17-inch front wheel and a 14-inch rear wheel, and the big wheel YZ85LW (what Yamaha calls its Large Wheel) features a larger 19-inch front and a 16-inch rear, which can offer a more appropriate fit as riders grow.

Both YZ85 models feature the 85cc two-stroke engine with the Yamaha Power Valve System, and ride on Kayaba suspension including the 36mm KYB inverted cartridge fork. A steel frame and aluminum swingarm provide the platform for aggressive and responsive riding, making the YZ85 and YZ85LW best suited for experienced youth riders.

There are no major changes to the 2025 YZ85 models aside from fresh graphics.
