BMW’s big six-cylinder sport-touring K bike now gets the DTC (Dynamic Traction Control) system as standard equipment. New options include BMW’s Keyless Ride System that enables the steering lock, fuel tank, and storage compartments to be locked/unlocked without using a key, plus Hill Start Control for easier uphill starts and daytime riding light. New colors include a two-tone San Marino Blue Metallic/Granite Grey Metallic Matte finish.

The touring version of the water-cooled boxer series returns basically unchanged for 2015, save for a new San Marino Blue Metallic/Granite Grey Metallic Matte paint scheme joining the Callisto Grey Metallic Matte and Ebony Metallic motifs. There are a total of six option packages available for the RT, with everything from Dynamic ESA to Bluetooth Interface to Sirius Radio to GPS hookup to heated seats and virtually everything in between.

BMW couldn’t help finding another application for the beastly S 1000 platform by redoing the chassis and fairing to produce the “adventure-sport” S 1000 XR. Using the same 160-hp engine as the naked S 1000 R, the XR gains suspension travel and ground clearance, comfier ergos, and the usual comprehensive electronics suite. Options include Pro Riding Modes, Dynamic ESA, and ABS Pro.

The omnipotent R 1200 GS now gets the heavier crankshaft from the Adventure/RT models for 2015 to smooth the new-generation liquid-cooled boxer’s low-end power in tighter situations. Selectable riding modes, Automatic Stability Control, and ABS all return as standard, as does the optional Dynamic ESA semi-active suspension. New options include the Keyless Ride System and Gear Shift Assist Pro for clutchless upshifts/downshifts.

Precursor to the K 1600 series, the four-cylinder K 1300 S returns for 2015 with a Motorsport option in blue/white BMW Motorsport colors, HP footpegs and forged wheels, Akrapovic titanium exhaust silencer, and black engine spoiler. Also included with the Motorsport model are Gear Shift Assist, ESA II, heated grips, TPM (Tire Pressure Monitoring), and ASC (Automatic Stability Control).

2015 BMW R nineT

This retro version of the BMW boxer utilizes the older-generation air-/oil-cooled engine in a bare-bones roadster chassis with inverted telescopic fork and Paralever rear suspension that allows easy customization. A removable rear subframe comes off with eight bolts, with the headlight and taillight/license plate assemblies also easily detached, encouraging owners to put their own custom touch on their bike. Modern features include ABS standard.

2015 BMW R 1200 RS

2015 BMW R 1200 RS - Basic - Lupin Blue Metallic / Light Grey Metallic

To be released as a 2016 model during the spring, the new RS is intended as the sport-touring version of the water-cooled boxer lineup. A nice half fairing features S 1000 RR-influenced styling using asymmetrical headlights with adjustable windscreen, and an inverted telescopic fork replaces the old Telelever front suspension. The usual BMW electronics package is included, and torque is up slightly compared to the other R models.

The naked version of the BMW boxer twin returns in 2015 with the latest-generation liquid-cooled engine, sharper styling, and an inverted telescopic fork. ABS, ASC, and two riding modes (Rain and Road) are standard, with optional Ride Modes Pro adding Dynamic Traction Control and two additional riding modes (Dynamic, using the optional Dynamic ESA semi-active suspension, and User, allowing customized engine and suspension settings).

The roadster version of the all-conquering S 1000 RR returns for 2015 basically unchanged (even the red, white, and dark blue colors are the same) except for a $110 price increase. Not that much needed changing, with the 160-hp powerplant and agile chassis offering up serious real-world performance at all rpm without the RR’s committed riding position. Options include DDC semi-active suspension, Dynamic Traction Control, and Ride Modes Pro.

BMW’s entry-level member of the adventure-tour GS family, the F 700 GS (actually using the same 798cc engine as the F 800 series) returns for 2015 unchanged except for all-new colors (Alpine White, Black Storm Metallic/Racing Red, and Racing Blue Metallic Matte). ABS is standard equipment, with options including ESA, ASC, TPM, heated grips, centerstand, Low Seat, plus a Low Suspension option that drops the seat height to 30.1 inches.

2015 BMW F 800 R Racing Blue Metallic Matt / Black Satin Gloss

The updated F 800 R has slightly more power, and changes to the chassis are intended to improve performance and comfort. The 798cc engine has been "retuned" to produce 90 horsepower at 8000 rpm, up from 87 horsepower; peak torque remains at 63 foot-pounds and internal ratios for first and second gears have been shortened to improve acceleration. The updated chassis now has an inverted fork with radial-mount front brakes, and revised ergos include a 10mm-lower seat, new handlebar and footpegs.

Racing Blue Metallic Matt/Light White and Racing Blue Metallic Matt/Black Satin Gloss graphics packages add a $100 premium.
