After showing a prototype in the form of the RR666S concept in 2023, Voge has started a staged release of its first four-cylinder sportbike, the RR660S, in China ahead of an expected global debut.

Although yet to hit the US market, Voge is the high-end brand from Chinese motorcycle and scooter-making giant Loncin, whose credentials include a 19-year collaboration with BMW that started back in 2005. Having started out manufacturing BMW’s F650 engines, today the relationship means Loncin manufactures the C 400 scooters on behalf of the Bavarian brand and even makes its own F 900 GS-powered adventure bike, the Voge DS900X. Earlier this year, a leaked presentation from the company suggested that its future plans include even more BMW-derived bikes encompassing models based on the K 1600′s six-cylinder engine and even a 1,000cc superbike based on the S 1000 RR.

Voge is currently not sold in the US, but could find its way here in the near future.Voge

Today, Voge has dealers in Europe, Asia, South America, and Africa, and like rival Chinese brands CFMoto and QJMotor, its model range is starting to look increasingly high-quality. The new RR660S bolsters that impression with modern, if generic, sportbike styling and a specification that promises to make it a strong rival to midrange machines like Honda’s CBR650R.

The CBR650R similarities run as far as the wheelbase, which is identical to the Honda’s at 57 inches, and the 67mm bore of the four-cylinder engine. The Voge’s engine is a fraction larger at 663cc compared to the CBR650R’s 649cc, which comes from an extra millimeter of stroke (46mm on the Honda), 47mm on the Voge. Whether the similarities can be taken to suggest the Voge engine is a direct copy of the Honda design, it’s too early to tell, but there are several Chinese companies building their own variations on the CBR650R motor so it wouldn’t be unusual.

Voge’s engine puts out 99 hp, a fraction up on the 94 hp that Honda claims for the CBR650R, but the Chinese bike is also heavier than the Japanese rival, clocking in at 474 pounds, 8 more than the equivalent Honda including a full tank of fuel. As is often the case, the Chinese machine promises a higher specification than the Japanese equivalent, with kit including Brembo four-piston radial-mount brake calipers as standard and a color TFT dash with a variety of display modes, two riding modes (Normal and Sport), and, according to Chinese reports from a brief on-track riding session, an unusual rider-operated exhaust valve to change the noise level.

The bike’s styling carries over from the RR666S concept but loses the show bike’s single-sided swingarm in favor of a conventional, dual-sided design. The bodywork is identical apart from a toned-down paint scheme. So far Voge has shown red, black, and white variants, all with English-language graphics, perhaps hinting at future international sales. Do we really need stickers on the winglets telling us what they are, though?

We’re likely to hear more about Voge’s international plans for its 2025 models when the European EICMA and Intermot shows roll around, in November and December, respectively, but the RR660S looks likely to be in the vanguard of new Chinese four-cylinder sportbikes to hit export markets.
