As we rev up for another season of MotoAmerica competition, one thing is clear: For more than 10 years in a row the series has continued to grow. There is no doubt that part of this stems from the fact that the series has embraced change, tried new classes, and modified others to ensure that the racing remains the star of the show. As buyers’ tastes have evolved over the years with the bikes they purchase, MotoAmerica has paid attention and made those adjustments.
Last year was a banner year, with a former Superbike champ, Josh Herrin, returning to the top of the series after more than a decade to take the MotoAmerica Superbike title. Additionally, it was a return to the top for Ducati, which hadn’t won a Superbike title since 1994 when Aussie Troy Corser did so on a Fast By Ferracci Ducati. This go-around, Herrin backed up his 2023 Supersport title (on the Panigale V2), aboard the Warhorse HSBK Racing Ducati Panigale V4 R.
For 2025 MotoAmerica has eight different classes, with different combinations making up race weekends at the 10 stand-alone events, including the Daytona 200. The Talent Cup class will also be a support race at the Circuit of The Americas during the MotoGP event, and Mid-Ohio’s Vintage Motorcycle Days. The classes for 2025 include: Superbike, Supersport, Talent Cup, Stock 1000, Twins Cup, King of the Baggers, Build.Train.Race, and Super Hooligan.
MotoAmerica continues to attract world-class talent. 2024 saw the addition of Australian Troy Herfoss, who joined the King of the Baggers series as a three-time Australian Superbike champion. He ended the year with the KOTB title for Team S&S Indian Motorcycle. Another fresh face, MotoGP/Moto2/125 Grand Prix veteran Bradley Smith, will join the Harley-Davidson x Dynojet Factory Race Team in KOTB for 2025.
As is tradition, and for the third year in a row after rejoining the MotoAmerica fold, the Daytona 200 will kick off America’s roadracing season from Daytona International Speedway. This year marks the event’s 83rd running, and is once again a one-off event. Support races will include the first rounds of the 2025 Mission King of the Baggers Championship, the SC-Project Twins Cup Championship, and the Mission Super Hooligan National Championship. The MotoAmerica Superbike season will kick off at Barber Motorsports Park April 4 to 6, with Supersport, SC-Project Twins Cup, Stock 1000, and Build.Train.Race, also getting underway. In total, the meat of the MotoAmerica series will visit nine venues in 2025 concluding with the New Jersey round in September.
This stand-alone event will feature the unique format of the Daytona 200 with middleweight motorcycles from five different manufacturers tackling the speedway’s 3.51-mile, 12-turn road course and 31-degree banking for the coveted 83rd Daytona 200 title.
The 2025 entry list includes 36 riders from six different countries. Returning riders include last year’s Daytona 200 champion Josh Herrin to defend his title and go for three in a row and join Danny Eslick as a four-time winner. Only Scott Russell and Miguel DuHamel have won the race five times.
Some exciting international racers have committed this year as well, including 14-time Isle of Man winner Peter Hickman on a PHR Performance Team Triumph. Another huge name will line up this year, 29-time Isle of Man TT winner Michael Dunlop on a Milwaukee Ducati MD Racing Panigale V2.
