MotoAmerica Championship Of Pittsburgh In Twenty Photos

Factory Superbike stars Cameron Beaubier and Roger Hayden were the big winners at the inaugural event in Pennsylvania

New Jersey Motorsports Park is hosting Round 9 of the 2017 MotoAmerica Series. Always well-attended, this annual event will feature two full days of competition on the 12-turn, 2.25-mile Thunderbolt Raceway. The track is located on the outskirts of Millville, New Jersey—a short motorcycle ride from Philadelphia and a couple hours distance from New York City.

Before practice begins on Friday, MotoAmerica photographer Brian J. Nelson provides a look back at the on-track action from Round 8, the inaugural Championship of Pittsburgh, where Monster Energy/Yamalube/Yamaha's Cameron Beaubier and Yoshimura Suzuki's Roger Hayden split victories in the premier Motul Superbike class.

After finishing second in both races at the rolling Wampum, Pennsylvania, track, Toni Elias holds a commanding 79-point advantage over teammate Hayden. Two-time and defending champ Beaubier is third in the standings, another six points behind, but he will miss the rest of the season following surgery for a dislocated right shoulder.

At NJMP, MotoAmerica television partner beIN SPORTS will broadcast all five classes—Motul Superbike, Bazzaz Superstock 1000, Supersport, Superstock 600, and the entry-level KTM RC Cup.
