Barber Motorsports Park is hosting Round 10 of the 2017 MotoAmerica Series, the Honda Championship of Alabama, this weekend, September 15-17. Arguably the most beautiful and well-maintained stop on the racing calendar, this picturesque venue will feature two full days of competition on the 17-turn, 2.38-mile circuit. The racetrack and its “always growing” vintage museum are located on the outskirts of Birmingham and owned by dairy magnate and real-estate developer George Barber.
Before practice begins on Friday morning, MotoAmerica photographer Brian J. Nelson provides a look back at the on-track action from Round 9, last weekend’s Championship of New Jersey, where Yoshimura Suzuki’s Toni Elias earned back-to-back victories and clinched the Motul Superbike title. After also doubling in both Supersport races at the Millville track, defending class champion Garrett Gerloff holds a commanding 46-point advantage over his factory-supported Yamaha teammate, JD Beach.
At Barber, MotoAmerica television partner beIN SPORTS will broadcast all five classes—Motul Superbike, Bazzaz Superstock 1000, Supersport, Superstock 600, and the entry-level KTM RC Cup.
