Man in a Van with a Plan: Hayden Gillim Returns Home to Kentucky

Because the only place more fun than the racetrack is your backyard (when there's a racetrack in it)

We here at Cycle World would like to think Hayden Gillim knew what he was signing himself up for when he signed on to the Man in a Van with a Plan program. Go race the Superstock 1000 class, we told him. It'll be fun, we said.

And it was, but the honest truth is that the life of a professional racer is not easy. Add a few dirt track races into the schedule, plus driving responsibilities, and you'd be surprised how much time Hayden got to spend at home this year. Or should we say little.

With the 2016 MotoAmerica season wrapping up in early September, Hayden was finally able to steer our Nissan NV van toward home. And because we know just how awesome his family's home/property is, we sent our videographer along with him.

They say that if you really want to get to know someone, then you've got to go back and see where they're from. Hopefully this video gives you a glimpse of that, or a laugh. Because if not that, it will probably just make you jealous of his backyard.

Hayden is pretty much always straight-faced and serious. Okay, that's not exactly true. Especially not when he's back home.Nik Wogen
