Triumph’s entry into the dirt bike market was a highly touted one with the rollout of its first motocross bike, the TF 250-X. Now, the British manufacturer has unveiled its second called the TF 450-RC Edition. As the name suggests, Triumph’s first 450cc motocross bike was developed in collaboration with Ricky Carmichael—the winningest motocross racer of all time.
“At the end of 2023, Triumph revealed the long-awaited TF 250-X—the first in an all-new range of off-road motorcycles,” Triumph chief product officer Steve Sargent said. “We now have a brand-new 450cc competition motocross powertrain, which Ricky Carmichael, who is without doubt the very best in the business, has worked with us to develop. The TF 450-RC Edition offers a balance of power, precision, and durability that sets a new standard in the 450cc motocross class. It seems only right that the first edition should have Ricky’s name on it.”

The TF 450-RC Edition shares similarities to the TF 250-X in its chassis, being built around a double-cradle aluminum frame, and suspension components in the form of a KYB Air-Oil Separate (AOS) 48mm closed-cartridge coil-spring fork and KYB shock. There are other similarities such as a Brembo hydraulic clutch and Brembo brakes.
The main difference between the TF 450-RC Edition and TF 250-X is, of course, the engine. The TF 450-RC Edition is powered by a fuel-injected liquid-cooled SOHC four-stroke 450cc single-cylinder mill with a 95.0mm bore, 63.4mm stroke, and compression ratio of 13.1:1. Instead of Pirelli Scorpion MX32 Mid Soft tires like the TF 250-X uses, the TF 450-RC Edition is spec’d with Dunlop Geomax MX34 rubber—the rear slightly wider at 110/90-19 instead of 100/90-19 on the quarter-liter model.
The TF 450-RC Edition is equipped with Triumph’s Wi-Fi Module Kit (part No. A9820130) in stock trim, which allows users to adjust fuel and ignition mapping via the MX Tune Pro smartphone app. As an added bonus, a unique engine map customized by Ricky Carmichael is included.
It wouldn’t be a Carmichael replica without up-spec components picked by the GOAT himself, so Triumph outfitted the TF 450-RC Edition with special parts. First up are head stays (aka top engine mounts) that are solid (as in they don’t have cutouts like the TF 250-X’s), which are said to enhance handling, especially under heavy front-end loads.
Next is an ODI Podium Flight MX RC4 Signature handlebar, Xtrig holeshot device, Hinson Racing Billetproof clutch cover with Triumph Racing logo, front brake disc guard, and gripper seat cover. Appearance-wise, we see GOAT logos, sponsor decals, and No. 4 backgrounds.
The 2025 Triumph TF 450-RC Edition is set to land on showroom floors in February 2025 for a suggested retail price of $10,995.
