The latest Monster 1200 presents a host of top-shelf features that will make performance enthusiasts breathless for a test ride. For starters, there’s the power—1,198cc worth of desmodromic Testastretta 11º V-twin dishing out a claimed 147 hp at 9,250 rpm. Sure, there are four-cylinder superbikes that throw a bigger punch, but considering the famed torque that Bologna V-twins produce, combined with a dry weight of just 412 pounds, the Monster 1200 truly is a raging bull.

Helpfully, the Monster 1200’s saddle can be adjusted up or down an inch, letting the bike suit a wider range of physiques. Also helping the rider are a ride-by-wire throttle system, cornering ABS, traction control, wheelie control, and selectable riding modes. The Monster 1200 S adds special three-spoke “Y” wheels, topflight Öhlins suspenders, radially mounted Brembo Monoblock brake calipers, and an assortment of cosmetic upgrades.
