Yamaha pulled the wraps off its 2013 YZF-R1, YZF-R6 and YZF-R125 sportbikes on Thursday at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli in Rimini, Italy.
To help promote the new European-spec models, current MotoGP points-leader Jorge Lorenzo and Yamaha factory teammate Ben Spies will hit the track this weekend in Italy and again at end of the month in Spain on special "Race-Blu"-painted YZR-M1s. Designed by Aldo Drudi, the striking livery combines blue-and-matte-gray bodywork with matching blue wheels.
“It’s another really cool special livery from Yamaha,” said Spies. “The red-and-white one brought me a lot of luck last year with my win in Assen, so I’m hoping this Race-Blu will do the same here in Misano and Aragon.”
According to Yamaha, this is the first time a current GP paint scheme will be available to consumers.
