Any proper maintenance ritual involves a proper cleaning. There are many ways to tackle this task, but using a pressure washer is a popular option. The problem with that choice is that most pressure washers can introduce problems. Many gas-powered units have such high pressures that water can be forced past seals into bearings, which then leads to rust and ultimately failure. Muc-Off has a solution: a new electric pressure washer specifically designed for motorcycles and bicycles.

Contained within a waterproof storage bag, the Muc-Off Pressure Washer comes with three wand attachments: one for bicycles that is safe on bearings and suspension parts, one for motorcycles with a higher pressure but still safe for seals and graphics, and one with an adjustable pressure for blasting crud from tires and skid plates. Attaching the handle and wands to the pressure water is a 16-foot-long quick-disconnect hose. Muc-Off also includes a low-pressure snow foam lance to lay down a thick layer of suds. The $174.99 kit also includes a 1-liter bottle of Nano Tech Bike Cleaner and a 1-liter bottle of Bike Cleaner Concentrate.

Muc-Off sent a unit for review to the Cycle World/Cycle Volta offices. We immediately put it to work and it hasn’t had many days off since it arrived. The snow foam attachment froths up the bike cleaner nice and thick, removing any need for scrubbing—a great feature for anything with glossy paint or scratch-prone plastic parts.

The motorcycle wand does all of the heavy lifting, and we haven’t found the need to use the adjustable pressure wand at all. The bicycle wand is great for Cycle Volta’s stable of electric test bikes, and removes much of the worry about injecting water into somewhere it shouldn’t be.

In just a couple of months we’ve put the Muc-Off Pressure Washer through what would take the average rider years to accomplish. We haven’t had one issue with any part, and the electric unit is much quieter than the gas-powered unit we used before this beauty arrived.

Our only criticism is that the snow foam lance is a bit unbalanced with a 1-liter bottle attached and requires two-handed operation to support the weight. Other than that we love the Muc-Off Pressure Washer and its interchangeable attachments. The real value is in the convenience and reduced decibels, especially with the amount of washing we do.
