Kawasaki Ninja H2/R $25,000/$50,000
Engine: L-C 16V 998 inline-four | Seat Height: 32.5/32.7 in. | Curb Weight: 525/476 lb.
Wheelbase: 57.3/57.1 in. | Rake: 24.5/25.1° | Trail: 109/104mm | Fuel Capacity: 4.5 gal.
2015 Kawasaki Ninja H2R

2015 Kawasaki Ninja H2R

Although the Ninja H2R features a taillight, the bike is intended for closed course use only and is not street legal. The rear tail section/seat assembly is all carbon fiber and self-supporting; there is no rear frame subsection. The exhaust is titanium full-race unit, since there is no need for a catalyzer and other emissions-related items.

If you haven’t heard about this bike already you’ve been living under a rock for the past six months. The H2R and H2 were heavily hyped prior to their release, and with good reason: The H2R’s supercharged 998cc engine produces 300 hp. The H2R is a limited-release, closed-circuit bike with slicks, elaborate aerodynamics, and an open exhaust, while the H2 has less power (225 hp) but can be licensed for on-road use.

Kawasaki Concours 14 ABS $15,499

The Connie has been refined for ’15 with a revised first-gear ratio for easier starts and low-speed riding, updated rear suspension settings to better cope with a passenger and luggage, a new seat, and an adjustable windshield vent. The K-ACT ABS settings have been revised, plus heated grips and a tire pressure monitoring system are standard equipment. Colors for this year are black or green, and—unbelievably—list price is now $700 cheaper.

Kawasaki ZX-14R ABS/30th Anniversary $14,999/$15,899
Engine: L-C 16V 1441 inline-four | Seat Height: 31.5 in. | Curb Weight: 591 lb.
Wheelbase: 58.3 in. | Rake: 23.0° | Trail: 94mm | Fuel Capacity: 5.8 gal.
2015 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14R ABS 30th Anniversary Edition

While the big Ninja returns mechanically unchanged, it is offered in this stunning 30th Anniversary Edition celebrating the original 1984 Ninja 900. Each model (only 300 are available for the US and Latin America) features a numbered badge on the fuel tank, gold pinstriping and highlights, and the same Firecracker Red/Metallic Graystone paint used on the original Ninja. Color options for the standard model are gray/green or green/black.

Kawasaki ZX-10R/ABS $14,299/$15,299
Engine: L-C 16V 998 inline-four | Seat Height: 32.0 in. | Curb Weight: 437/443 lb.
Wheelbase: 56.1 in. | Rake: 25.0° | Trail: 107mm | Fuel Capacity: 4.5 gal.
2015 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R 30th Anniversary Model

No changes for the literbike Ninja this year, but there’s nothing wrong with that—Tom Sykes came to within a few points of repeating as World Superbike Champion on his ZX-10R, and the 10R was just a half point off winning our last literbike shootout. Both the standard and ABS models are offered in Metallic Matte Carbon Gray/Flat Ebony shown here (which we’ll call simply black) or the 30th Anniversary graphic that adds $300 to the price.

Kawasaki Versys 1000 LT $12,799
Engine: L-C 16V 1043 inline-four | Seat Height: 33.1 in. | Curb Weight: 549 lb.
Wheelbase: 59.8 in. | Rake: 27.0° | Trail: 102mm | Fuel Capacity: 5.5 gal.

While not strictly a new model, 2015 is the first year the big Versys is offered in the US. The 1,043cc inline-four powerplant comes from the Z1000/Ninja 1000, but with subtle changes to improve low-end and midrange power. KTRC traction control, power modes, and ABS are standard; upgrades for ‘15 include new styling, hand guards, a centerstand, and quick-release hard saddlebags. Color options are orange/black and ebony/black.

Kawasaki Ninja 1000 ABS $11,999
Engine: L-C 16V 1043 inline-four | Seat Height: 32.3 in. | Curb Weight: 509 lb.
Wheelbase: 56.9 in. | Rake: 24.5° | Trail: 102mm | Fuel Capacity: 5.0 gal.

The Ninja 1000 was substantially updated last year with more low-end and midrange power, monoblock brakes, new gauges, riding modes, and traction control; hard bags are now standard equipment. We called it “a sportier sport-tourer” and “a very appealing and much sportier alternative to the bigger sport-touring rigs” in our road test. No updates for ’15—even the price is the same—but color options are gray/black and green/black.

Kawasaki Z1000 ABS $11,999
Engine: L-C 16V 1043 inline-four | Seat Height: 32.1 in. | Curb Weight: 487 lb.
Wheelbase: 56.5 in. | Rake: 24.5° | Trail: 102mm | Fuel Capacity: 4.5 gal.

Kawasaki’s big naked bike got most of the Ninja 1000’s updates last year, along with “sugomi” styling. After a while the styling grew on us (and others, it seems), and our verdict was that, “although the price has jumped $1K more than the old model, we feel that overall performance increase is worth the cost.” List price remains unchanged (and no mechanical updates) while the Z1000 is offered in Golden Blazed Green/Metallic Spark Black paint.

Kawasaki ZX-6R/ABS $11,699/$12,699
Engine: L-C 16V 636 inline-four | Seat Height: 32.7 in. | Curb Weight: 423/428 lb.
Wheelbase: 54.9 in. | Rake: 23.5° | Trail: 102mm | Fuel Capacity: 4.5 gal.
2015 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R 30th Anniversary Model

The middleweight Ninja is also available in the 30th Anniversary colors (shown here) to celebrate three decades of Ninja models, which adds $300 to the price of either the standard or ABS models. That gets you the Lime Green/Pearl Stardust White paint, green trim on the wheels, and 30th Anniversary badges on the fairing. Otherwise the ZX-6R is unchanged for ’15, but you can have it in any other color as long as it’s gray/ebony like the ZX-10R.

Kawasaki Versys 650 ABS/LT $7999/$8699
Engine: L-C 8V 649 inline-twin | Seat Height: 33.1 in. | Curb Weight: 476/496 lb.
Wheelbase: 55.7 in. | Rake: 25.0° | Trail: 109mm | Fuel Capacity: 5.5 gal.

Significant updates for the middleweight Versys this year include new styling similar to the Versys 1000’s, a larger three-level-adjustable windscreen, bigger fuel tank, slightly more power courtesy of a new one-piece exhaust, along with suspension and brake upgrades. ABS is offered as standard equipment (with a smaller, lighter ABS unit), and the LT model has hard saddlebags and hand guards. Both models are offered in green or white.

Kawasaki Ninja 650/ABS $7199/$7599
Engine: L-C 8V 649 inline-twin | Seat Height: 31.7 in. | Curb Weight: 461/465 lb.
Wheelbase: 55.5 in. | Rake: 25.0° | Trail: 109mm | Fuel Capacity: 4.2 gal.

We have long been fans of the Ninja 650, even racing one a couple of years ago as a project. Last update for the 650 was in 2012 and we thought the changes made the bike more appropriate for entry-level riders with “manageable power, a solid chassis, and stylish design that will actually appeal to the average customer.” It returns unchanged this year, though the price has dropped by a nice $500 for the standard model ($400 for the ABS version).

Kawasaki Ninja 300/ABS/SE $4999/$5299/$5199
Engine: L-C 8V 296 inline-twin | Seat Height: 30.9 in. | Curb Weight: 379/384 lb.
Wheelbase: 55.3 in. | Rake: 27.0° | Trail: 94mm | Fuel Capacity: 4.5 gal.

The baby Ninja has been setting the pace in the lightweight sportbike category for many years; we called the latest version, updated in 2013, “huge fun in a small package.” It gets one upgrade this year, with Dunlop TT900 GP tires replacing the previous IRC rubber. The standard and ABS models are offered in green or white, while the SE model shown here is available as a non-ABS model and has a special Metallic Moondust Gray/Ebony paint finish.
