Reigning MotoAmerica Superbike Champion Cameron Beaubier will make the trip across the pond next weekend to make his World Superbike debut at Donington Park, May 27-29. With a couple weekends off in the MotoAmerica Championsip, Beaubier steps in to fill the spot of Pata Yamaha’s Sylvain Guintoli, who is still recovering from injuries suffered in his big crash in Superpole at Imola.
The 23 year old has at least had some time at Donington, back when he was racing 125s in Grand Prix, which will help a bit as there will be a lot to get used to with a tight World Superbike schedule to try and adapt to it all. Nonetheless Beaubier’s looking forward to the challenge.
"I feel really fortunate that Pata Yamaha is giving me this opportunity to be a part of the team for the weekend while Sylvain [Guintoli] is healing up,” Beaubier said. “I'm also thankful that Yamaha U.S. is allowing me to do this in the middle of our season. It will be a tough weekend with lots of learning but I'm going to do my best and have fun!"
As for Guintoli, the Frenchman hopes to be back in time for the following round at Misano, June 17-19.
