KTM 1290 Super Duke R $16,999
Engine: L-C 8V 1301 V-Twin Seat Height: 32.9 in. Wheelbase: 58.3 in.

The KTM Super Duke R is the bike your parents warned you about and is centered around a 1,301cc RC8 R-derived engine with 180 hp and 106 foot-pounds of torque (74 foot-pounds of which is available as low as 2,500 rpm, KTM says). Traction control, potent Brembo M50 brake calipers, ABS with supermoto setting, riding modes, and traction control come standard.

KTM 1190 RC8 R $16,499
Engine: L-C 8V 1195 V-twin Seat Height: 31.7–32.5 in. Wheelbase: 56.1 in.

KTM’s 1190 RC8 R offers more adjustments than any bike in its class and allows riders to choose between independent footrest positions, clip-on heights, clip-on angles, and seat heights. A slipper clutch comes standard, and the 1190’s steel-tube chassis remains difficult to fault. Suspension comes from WP and brakes from Brembo.

KTM 690 Duke ABS $8,999
Engine: L-C 4V 690 single Seat Height: 32.9 in. Wheelbase: 57.7 in.

KTM’s 690 Duke won’t exactly live in the pillowing smoke plumes left by the 2014 Super Duke R; reintroduced last year, this Duke features Brembo brakes with switchable ABS for supermoto-style slides, a modest 32.9- inch seat height, robust single-cylinder engine that’s claimed to produce 68 hp, slipper clutch, and WP suspension.
