Kawasaki’s line of KX-X cross-country models are close variants to their respective motocross-only platforms, but with slight modifications to make them more off-road ready. The KX450X receives only a handful of changes from the KX450 track specialist, coming equipped with an 18-inch rear wheel (as opposed to a 19-inch), off-road-ready suspension (softer than motocross suspension), a kickstand, and a sealed chain. As far as cross-country models go, Kawasaki’s is the closest to its motocross counterpoint compared to other brands. This makes it not only a potent race-ready mount, but also a very capable motocrosser, giving an option to those who may be seeking a trackbike with slightly softer suspension settings than the standard KX450.
After undergoing an overhaul in 2024 where it received an all-new aluminum perimeter frame, a heavily revised engine, and updated Showa suspension settings, the 2025 Kawasaki KX450X gets only minor changes. The only production change you’ll find between the models is an air-intake upgrade which allows the 449cc DOHC motor to breathe a little easier by way of a domed air filter.
Like its KX450 counterpart, the KX450X features smartphone connectivity that communicates with a downloadable Kawasaki app and allows you to alter engine tuning. Handlebar controls also enable riders to switch between power modes and traction control options. Electric start and fuel injection are standard. You will also find highlights such as Brembo brake components, a hydraulic clutch, and ODI lock-on grips on the KX450X.
The 2025 Kawasaki KX450X is available in Lime Green for $10,699.
