Just when you thought the KX450 was the most special racebike Kawasaki had to offer, along comes the KX450SR. The “Special Racer” limited edition comes fully loaded with aftermarket goodies such as the Pro Circuit Ti-6 titanium race exhaust and Xtrig ROCS-Tech (Revolutionary Opposed Clamping System) triple clamps. The SR also features some factory “unobtanium” such as the polished intake ports in the 449cc engine, and specialized ECU fuel-injection settings, as well as the coveted Kashima and titanium coatings on the Showa suspension, both front and rear.
The Kawasaki KX450SR first arrived on the scene as a ’22 model, and returned for 2023 but took a hiatus for ’24. The tricked-out model made its return for 2025 with the KX450’s all-new platform. The ’25 KX450SR features, for the first time, the updated engine, new aluminum perimeter frame, and the latest Showa suspension that debuted on the 2024 KX450.
Kawasaki joins multiple brands in offering a fully loaded factory-inspired racebike, KTM with its Factory Edition, Husqvarna with its Rockstar Edition, and Honda with its RWE Works Edition. The Kawasaki features the highest price tag of the tricked-out 450s, checking in at $13,599, a full grand pricier than the rest. Is the juice worth the squeeze? Jeremy McGrath seems to think so. Better take it up with him.
The 2025 Kawasaki KX450SR is available in Lime Green for $13,599.
