Aprilia RSV4 X EX3MA First Look

MotoGP aerodynamics and top-tier performance for a lucky few.

Only 30 units of the 2025 Aprilia RSV4 X EX3MA will be produced.Aprilia

Since 2019 Aprilia has been creating ultraexclusive versions of its sporting motorcycles that carry the “X” designation. The first model was the RSV4 X, followed by the Tuono X, and then the RSV4 X Trenta. For 2025 Aprilia will release the fourth X model called the RSV4 X EX3MA. Only 30 of these machines will be available worldwide and set you back a cool $99,000.

But what you get for that lofty 100K is the most sophisticated and high-performance RSV4 ever produced, and the only production motorcycle to date equipped with ground-effect aerodynamics, which in this case were developed in the MotoGP championship for the RS-GP racer. With 230 hp and 97 lb.-ft. of peak torque in a bike weighing just 364 pounds, “Aprilia Racing has created something unique in the world,” says Romano Albesiano, technical director of Aprilia Racing. “This is the bike that brings a true enthusiast closest to the riding sensations of a modern MotoGP bike.”

The RSV4 X EX3MA is the first motorcycle available to the public with ground-effect aerodynamics.Aprilia

Aprilia is the company that began the initial aggressive development of aerodynamics in MotoGP, so it’s only fitting that it is also the first to make these radical advancements available to the well-heeled public. And the winglets and ground effects on the EX3MA aren’t just tacked on for styling, they increase downforce significantly. “The EX3MA is the first motorbike on general sale with a complete ground effect package,” Albesiano adds. “Increasing lateral load by three times compared to the previous X model: The stepped fairing and cornering wings are innovations Aprilia first introduced in MotoGP. The front wing, a true MotoGP design, is 550mm wide and generates five times more downforce than the previous X Trenta model, which already surpassed the road version, delivering exceptional acceleration.”

Most unique on the EX3MA are the fairings which exploit the air pressure between the bike and the ground when the bike is leaned over in corners, creating downforce and therefore increasing mid-corner grip. In addition to the front wing that is designed to create downforce under acceleration and help reduce wheelies, there is a “spoon” wing under the swingarm, and cornering wings that attach to the lower parts of the front fender. The combination increases downforce by three times midcorner and five times down the straight.

Three-time 250 Grand Prix and two-time World Superbike Champion for Aprilia, Max Biaggi was part of the development team.Aprilia

All of the bodywork is carbon fiber that is made by Pan Compositi using the same processes as the RS-GP MotoGP bikes. Over the top is the Perla Nera livery that pays tribute to Max Biaggi and his three consecutive 250cc Grand Prix world championships from 1994 to 1996. Biaggi was also key in the development of the EX3MA. “Participating in the development of a bike like the RSV4 X EX3MA was like being at the test sessions of a real racing prototype,” Biaggi says. “It’s a bit like preseason testing, where the technical groundwork for an entire season is laid. Similarly, the dedication on the track has been unwavering, seeking to prepare a motorcycle that provides its fortunate riders with the same sensations as a racing prototype.”

At its heart is the 1,099cc 65-degree V-4 engine that makes its maximum power (230 hp) at 13,500 rpm with the rev limiter cutting in 400 rpm later. The 97 lb.-ft. of peak torque arrives at 11,000 rpm. Changes from the standard RSV4 Factory include a SBK tune, a higher compression ratio (not specified), racing air filter, and full racing SC-Project titanium exhaust system with twin silencers, raising power from the RSV4 Factory SE-09 SBK 1100′s 217 hp. Oversized radiators and oil coolers are made by Taleo Tecnoracing.

In terms of electronics, the RSV4 EX3MA is managed by Aprilia’s APX system, which is an evolution of the system that was used in World Superbike. An integrated data-acquisition system, and the ability to fine-tune all of the parameters for wheelie, TC, and engine-braking for each individual gear. Included with the bike is a Yashi laptop setup to help manage the bike’s ECU software.

The EX3MA is littered with superbike-level components.Aprilia

The EX3MA’s chassis is just as special as the rest of the bike, with top-tier components throughout. Öhlins suspension is used with a FKR pressurized cartridge fork and TTX shock both of which are fully adjustable. The braking system features Brembo GP4 MS Monoblock calipers, a PR19x16 master cylinder, and DP330 “T Drive” discs at the front. The rear twin-piston caliper is nickel plated. The wheels are GP Tex carbon fiber units in 17 x 3.5-inch front and 17 x 6.0-inch rear and mounted with Pirelli slicks with a 125/70-17 size front (SC1 compound) and a 200/65-17 rear (SCX compound).

Other special parts include carbon fiber fenders, adjustable footpegs, engraved triple clamp, billet aluminum fuel cap, engine cases, and clutch and brake levers. Also included are personalized bike cover, shop carpet, and rear work stand.

The bike can be ordered via your local Aprilia dealer or at factoryworks.aprilia.com. Bikes will be delivered in Q2 of 2025, with the option to pick up the bike at Aprilia Racing in Noale, Italy.
