The Yamaha YZ450F was completely redesigned last year with an all-new electric start-equipped engine and tuning capabilities from a smartphone via the Power Tuner app. Additionally, the bilateral-beam aluminum frame was completely new, the bodywork was made slimmer in a number of areas including the airbox, fuel tank, seat, and plastics, and the fork and shock received internal changes.
The Yamaha YZ450F returns for 2019 with changes aimed at improving traction and front end feel, and reducing horsepower loss. The KYB SSS coil-spring fork and KYB shock have updated settings and the front and rear wheel collars have been redesigned, all of which are aimed at improving traction feel. For improved rigidity and front end feel, the fork lugs and axle brackets have been redesigned as well.
The electric starter system has been updated to reduce drag and horsepower loss, and the final changes made for 2019 are an increase in the seat foam density and a blue valve cover on the Team Yamaha Blue bike, whereas the white bike retains the former 2018 model valve cover color.
The 2019 YZ450F is available in either Team Yamaha Blue or White color schemes, complete with the onboard Communication Control Unit (CCU) and Yamaha Smartphone Power Tuner app, and will arrive at Yamaha dealers beginning this month for $9,299.
