The main change is the addition of the new ride-by-wire e-gas throttle control. This allows the possibility to select between various throttle-response modes: two on the F700GS, Road and Rain, and four on the F800GS and F800GS Adventure: Road and Rain in addition to Enduro and Enduro Pro modes. In Road mode, the engines deliver full power and torque while ABS and ASC (stability and traction control) are set for high grip tarmac conditions. In Rain mode the throttle response becomes much milder while ABS and ASC are set for low grip tarmac conditions. In Enduro mode, the throttle response is slightly milder and ABS and ASC are set for the lower grip conditions met in a moderate off-road riding on road tires. The Enduro Pro mode provides the power and throttle response of Road mode, while ABS and ASC are tuned for the grip that real off-road knobby tires generate on dirt and gravel surfaces. In Enduro Pro, ABS action at the rear brake is excluded in order to give the rider the ability to lock the rear wheel and make it slide around tight corners.
