The Royal Spanish Motorcyclist Federation (RFME) and On Track Motorsport, Spanish motorcycle racing promotion specialists, have joined forces to launch Spain’s inaugural Flat Track Championship. Federation President Ángel Viladoms and On Track Motorsport CEO Iana Petrova signed an agreement on March 2 launching Spain’s first National Flat Track Championship for the purpose of popularizing American-style flat track in Spain, developing riders and encouraging sponsors in this exciting racing discipline.

The new series will closely follow the regulations and format of authentic American flat track racing including the use of 19-inch wheels as in the AMA series. The principal category will be for 450cc single cylinder machines. Dunlop will act as exclusive supplier thanks to an agreement made possible by Emilio González of Dunlop Spain and Miguel Morais in representation of Dunlop International.

The RFME Flat Track Championship will be nationally televised by Teledeporte and commented by former MotoGP and World Superbike commentator Dennis Noyes. Races will be broadcast on one-week delay, but fans who wish to follow the action live can do so via streaming video.

The series will begin in June and consists of seven races held at five Spanish circuits. Two of these events will feature both Short Track and TT events on the same weekend, with the short track races run at night and the TT races during the day.

Both the schedule of races and the sporting and technical regulations are set to be released in the coming weeks and will be posted at the official web page with all relevant information for fans, riders and teams. At this time additional information is available in the series Facebook page.
