Okay, the world's finances could be in better shape, but October's INTERMOT show proved that development continues on exciting new motorcycles. In Cologne, Germany, European manufacturers were pushing technology boundaries like never before. New bikes from BMW (K1600GT/GTL), Triumph (Speed Triple), KTM (Duke 125), Ducati (848 EVO, 1198 SP) and the Aprilia (Dorsoduro) were big hits.
Japan hasn't thrown in the towel. Kawasaki's all-new ZX-10R unveiled at Cologne is one of the most anticipated bikes of the year. Suzuki rejoined the party with the new GSX-R600 and 750, as well as announcing plans to import more models to the U.S. in 2011.
And there's more to come. Ducati's V-Twin musclebike, the Diavel, will officially debut at Milan, and there are rumors of a new Superbike, as well. Triumph's pair of much-teased Tiger 800 adventure bikes will be shown at EICMA. Ditto the Daytona 675 SE. Aprilia has a new V-Four Tuono in development, which we expect to surface at the show. Back in Italian hands after a brief sabbatical under Harley-Davidson, MV Agusta will show its range of 675cc Triples. KTM surely plans to announce 350cc off-roaders based on the 350 SX-F that debuted earlier this year.
Honda recently announced the stylish CBR250R Single, which will also be seen at EICMA for the first time. Will there be other surprises hiding in the halls? Cycle World European Editor Bruno dePrato and Contributing Editor Steve Anderson will attend the show, so log on frequently to cycleworld.com for all the breaking news beginning November 2.
