2008-2009 IBOTY: motoSI, Slovenia

World journalists pick the International Bike of the Year 2008-2009.

2008-2009 IBOTY: motoSI, Slovenia

1. BMW F800GS

For those hidden wonders at the end of asphalt roads. Proper in size. Not too heavy. Comfortable seating position for two—also for slightly overweight people. It is not pushing you to travel too fast. Enough engine for long trips and/or to take few corners at sporty speeds. Good fuel economy. Heated grips? Yes, please.

2. Aprilia Shiver 750

After 350 kilometers of very twisty road in between rock cliffs and Adriatic Sea, you find out that you can go properly fast thanks to good V-Twin power and an excellent chassis. Nice-looking naked! But why the hell there is no space for my mobile or a 12V power socket for my GPS?

3. KTM RC8

R&D; chiefs Felber and Habsburg are motorcyclists, too. They know how to go fast. And they know how to make a "different" bike. Yes, the orange bikes from Austria are full of character. They show that the owner is alive. Like driving Audi instead of Mercedes. Different personality, to be polite. Have a look at components, too!
