Each year in mid-July, thousands of motorcyclists swarm California's Central Coast like salmon returning to spawn. Since 2005, the raison d'être has been the Red Bull United States Grand Prix at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. Run in conjunction with a round of the AMA Superbike series, it is the first of two MotoGP weekends in the U.S. this year. On-track action is sure to excite: Will 2006 World Champion Nicky Hayden score another popular home-track victory? Or will current points leader Valentino Rossi—or Casey Stoner, reigning series champ—seize the day? Other highlights include a Red Bull Rookies Cup race, stunt shows, bike night on the wharf in Monterey, the big Yamaha party at the Monterey Bay Aquarium, custom-bike exhibits and more.

We're sending several editors to cover the action: Technical Editor Kevin Cameron, Senior Editor Paul Dean, Managing Editor Matthew Miles, Associate Editor Blake Conner and Online Editor Gabe Ets-Hokin. They will file updates and photos of all the exciting goings-on in our CW RealTime forum. Check back frequently and feel free to submit your own observations or questions.
