A look back at the Circuit of the Americas MotoGP event

It was a dramatic MotoGP race at the Circuit of the Americas, as three of the top riders crashed out. - luckily, none with serious injury. There was no shortage of great pictures from the event as well, here are our favorites images that captured all the action of the race.

Marc Marquez's crew celebrates as the Repsol Honda rider crosses the finish line following a dominating victory. Marquez won the race with a six-second margin and has a healthy lead in the championship points after just three rounds.Courtesy of Repsol Honda
While Ducati rider Andrea Dovizioso and Movistar Yamaha rider Jorge Lorenzo both led very briefly in the opening laps, Marquez grabbed the holeshot from pole position and gradually stretched out his lead during the race.Courtesy of Michelin

Valentino Rossi fell on the third lap, losing the front end of his Movistar Yamaha in a fast downhill right-hand turn. The Italian was unhurt, but dropped from second to third in the points with the DNF.Courtesy of Movistar Yamaha
Andrea Dovizioso and Dani Pedrosa diced for third position in the early laps, with Pedrosa finding some speed from his practice and qualifying pace to run with the leaders.Courtesy of Ducati
Unfortunately, Dani Pedrosa crashed on lap six, and his bike knocked Andrea Dovizioso off as well. Neither rider was hurt, but it was the second time in two races that Dovizioso had been taken out through no fault of his own.Courtesy of Repsol Honda

While Aleix Espargaro faded from the front-running group, his Ecstar Suzuki teammate Maverick Vinales gained ground from a poor start, eventually passing Espargaro and pulling away to finish fourth, his best MotoGP finish yet. Espargaro finished the race in fifth position.Courtesy of Suzuki Ecstar
