When MV Agusta’s engineers were tasked with creating the Turismo Veloce, they couldn’t just build your average sport-touring crossover bike. The brand’s rich racing and competition legacy meant that there would need to be some performance built into the machine. So the selection of the F3’s excellent 798cc three-cylinder platform was an easy choice, although since this bike would be meant for a slightly more sedate pace than the F3, the decision was made to retune the engine to be a little less high-strung. In addition to lighter pistons and a hydraulic tensioner for the cam chain, there’s also specific cam profiles, a new inlet manifold and airbox, slightly lower compression ratio (12.3:1 versus 13.3:1 for the F3), and single-injector throttle bodies that result in 110 hp at 10,000 rpm and 61.9 lb.-ft. of torque at 8000 rpm. A new exhaust system with more efficient catalyzer enables the engine to run clean enough to pass Euro 5 standards, and the engine is equipped with the MV SCS (Smart Clutch System) that features a Rekluse mechanical automatic clutch allowing starting and stopping without having to work the clutch lever.
The MV trademark steel trellis tube frame remains basically untouched, save for more relaxed steering geometry (25-degree rake/4.2-inch trail versus 23.9 degrees/3.5 inches for the F3) for the extra stability that’s always welcome when riding two-up and the standard 34-liter hard bags are fully loaded. The Turismo Veloce has a 56.9-inch wheelbase, 1.8 inches longer than the Brutale 800, but that length comes from the longer 23.9-inch swingarm and its longer-travel suspension, which is about an inch and a half taller at both ends. Speaking of taller, other updates from 2021 include a modified subframe to lower the seat height by almost a full inch, down to 32.7 inches. This was complemented by a taller and wider windscreen that can also be adjusted manually. Both the Lusso SCS and RC SCS versions come with semi-active suspension, with the 43mm inverted Marzocchi fork and Sachs rear shock featuring electronically adjustable damping along with manually adjustable spring preload (the Sachs shock is equipped with a remote hydraulic spring preload adjuster).
The 2024 MV Agusta Turismo Veloce 800 is available in two variants. The Turismo Veloce Lusso SCS is available in Gloss Metallic Carbon Black/Matte Metallic Dark Grey or Rosso Fuoco Opaco/Grigio Scuro Metallizzato Opaco for $25,598. The Turismo Veloce RC SCS is available in RC Pearl White/Ago Red/Emerald Green for $27,998.
