The KX250X is a variant of Kawasaki’s quarter-liter motocross bike, the KX250. Referred to as a cross-country model, the KX250X is designed to be a close relative of the purebred motocrosser, and still perfectly capable on the MX track. The KX250X has a handful of key distinctions that help it transition to the trail, giving it a broader spread of capability with minimal compromise when it comes to the competitive edge of the platform.
Speaking of the platform, the KX250X receives the same updates as the 2025 KX250 with an updated engine, all-new frame, and revised Showa suspension. For the first time, the KX250X features smartphone connectivity through a Kawasaki app that allows for engine tuning, and a handlebar switch lets riders select between preset engine maps as well as traction control options.
As for the distinctions of the X variant, the KX250X’s list is light. As cross-country models go, the Kawasaki deviates the least from its motocross roots. The KX250X has an 18-inch rear wheel (as opposed to the 19-inch wheel of the KX250), softer “off-road-ready” suspension settings, a sealed chain, and a kickstand. Everything else, including the engine mapping and transmission, is straight off the motocross model, making it not only a very powerful and fast-revving off-road bike, but a potential option for a motocross rider seeking a softer suspension setup than the stock KX.
The 2025 Kawasaki KX250X is available in Lime Green for $9099.
