2008-2009 IBOTY: Autocar India, India

1. Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade

A landmark bike. While some could debate whether this is a handsome motorcycle, none can deny the 'Blade's potent performance, or wide and user-friendly power delivery its rivals struggle to match. The CBR1000RR's refined powerplant comes backed by a relatively comfortable riding posture, impeccable suspension and precise handling that make this a capable motorcycle. The new Honda is impressively engineered to manage most of the hard work on its own and lighten the load on its rider's back.

2. Suzuki GSX1300R Hayabusa

A furiously fast motorcycle, unashamedly built in the sole interests of outright performance. The big Suzuki's a head turner with unique, love-it-or-loath-it style. Its brawny engine provides addictive acceleration most bikes only aspire to. Riding comfort and ergonomics are satisfactory on the 'Busa, as are its planted stability and solid brakes.

3. Honda CB1000R

A sensible, urban motorcycle built with a Honda typical feel of quality. Rugged, naked looks give it a powerful presence. And its gossamer smooth and flexible engine comes allied to well-sorted transmission. A practical motorcycle, the CB1000R enjoys a city-friendly, upright riding posture, as well as light, forgiving handling that make this an admirably easy bike to live with.
