Alta Motors Announces 2019 Redshift EXR

New off-road electric bike from San Francisco

Alta Motors, the Northern California-based manufacturer of high-performance electric motorcycles, has announced the release of the all-new Redshift EXR model. The bike not only made its global debut at the notorious Erzbergrodeo, but it made history as the first electric bike to ever qualify for the main event, with Ty Tremaine positioning his EXR on the front row in 43rd position, ahead of 457 other bikes.

The 2019 Redshift EXR features a new R-Pack that uses state-of-the-art cell chemistry to deliver extended full-power range at cooler operating temperatures. Built off of the company's A-Pack technology, this battery is the most energy dense battery ever put in a motorcycle, according to Alta. The Redshift platform's firmware and software upgrades result in more range, increased power, and faster charge times.

According to Alta, the all-new Redshift EXR has 50 hp, 42 pound-feet of torque, a top speed of 71 mph, and a claimed weight of 273 pounds.Courtesy of Alta Motors

Alta has designed the all-new Redshift EXR to have 50 hp, 42 pound-feet of torque, a top speed of 71 mph, and a claimed weight of 273 pounds. It takes 1.5 hours to fully charge using Alta’s Rapid 240-volt charger and three hours on the standard 120-volt charger. Suspension components are a WP Xplor 48 fork and a WP custom-spec shock made specifically for the machine. The electric motorcycle comes stock with Brembo brakes in the front and rear along with Metzeler 6 Days tires. The Redshift EXR retails for $12,495 and will be available at more than 60 dealerships nationwide midyear.
