Moto Corse Performance Ducati Paul Smart Replica

When your friend orders a super trick custom race bike, ya gotta ride a few laps!

Brian Smith lives about six minutes from Fast by Ferracci, and the Italian-bike bug bit him hard about a decade ago. It began with a fun dual-sport bike, grew into a Pikes Peak Edition Ducati Multistrada, a Ducati 848 for his son Jordan, then a Ducati 996 racebike was added, but a weekend at the 2015 New Jersey Motorsports Park AHRMA (American Historic Racing Motorcycle Association) weekend put Smith face-to-fairing with a Moto Corse Performance Paul Smart Replica race bike build by Chris Boy and company in Florida.

Brian Smith gets "all Gran Prix" on his new Paul Smart during an N2 trackday at New Jersey Motorsports Park. Smith is 6'1" and this bike is roomy compared to most roadracers, you sit in it rather than on top of it with the big Gufstasson bubble offering a calm place to enjoy your life. The Termignoni pipe/Shift-Tech muffler combination sounds amazing and the overall simplicity of the bike creates a light and eager racer.Courtesy of thesbimage.com

"Please build me one."

Smith was “all in,” designing the paint scheme and picking the parts. Two months ago, the Smart arrived in Pennsylvania and I started begging him on the phone for a ride, and then again in person, and finally on film. Smith hopes to race it at NJMP in AHRMA this July, and I hope you come and find us in the YCRS garage. It's gonna be a party and this bike will be one of the stars. Yeah, it's good, really good.

More Next Tuesday!

Moto Corse Performance builds a trick oil-catch bellypan designed to hold any spilled oil should things "quit running in spectacular fashion," as required by AHRMA rules. Öhlins front and rear, plus an Öhlins steering damper we ran 13 clicks out from maximum, performed perfectly. Brian chose Pirelli slicks and runs them on warmers. Yes, this Twins racer is simple and straightforward, but the tech hounds among us will be endlessly entertained by the AIM dashboard Moto Corse wired into the bike.Courtesy of thesbimage.com
Motorcycling's heart is heavy with the passing of Michael Czysz and it's hard to think of anything else right now. My friend, riding buddy, hero and idol is gone...but his way of life will be with me always. Everything is possible is the message he lived and the message he leaves. All thoughts and prayers to his family, MC was one in a trillion. -Nick IenatschNick Ienatsch
