If ever there were a category in which today's bikes quickly become yesterday's news, the 450cc motocross segment is it. Just one year after significantly updating the KX450F, Kawasaki completely reworked practically every aspect of the bike. Already up to date with a batteryless fuel-injection system, the engine got a redesigned crank, a slipper-style piston, a new intake cam and revised ECU maps. Plus, owners can buy an ECU-setting tool for programming custom ignition and fuel maps to suit their preferences. The handling also was upgraded via numerous chassis and suspension improvements.
