Ducati introduced this latest version of its iconic naked bike, the Monster 1100, in 2009. Essentially, this is an Open-class, single-sided-swingarm spin-off of the entry-level Monster 696, but with a few subtle chassis tweaks to compensate for a big boost in engine performance. Centerpiece, of course, is the charismatic air-cooled, 90-degree V-Twin with its broad, user-friendly powerband and Desmodromic valve actuation. New this year, a larger muffler heat shield is said to improve passenger comfort. Anti-lock brakes are optional.
