This is the top-of-the-ladder step for any Italian superbike fanatic: a full-on homologation special made just for racing. Mechanically identical to last year's 180-horsepower 1098 R, the Troy Bayliss Edition commemorates the recently retired Aussie's three World Superbike titles with a special Aldo Drudi paint scheme. Öhlins suspension is standard, while the bike rolls on forged aluminum Y-spoke wheels. Engine weight is reduced, as is the overall dry weight of the R, which is 13 pounds less than the new 1198. The Bayliss "kit" includes a Termignoni race exhaust and suitably programmed ECU, a rear stand and a color-matched bike cover.
