The new face of American luxury touring? Vision features an electrically adjustable windscreen and integrated turnsignals.

Making their debut from the New York Stock Exchange to morning network television shows to right here at www.cycleworld.com are a pair of all-new full-on luxury-touring machines from Victory Motorcycles. Called the Vision, the bikes bear only little resemblance to the “800” concept bike shown more than a year ago. The motorcycle press was granted a secret early preview of the two bikes this past December, not far from the Cycle World International Motorcycle Show in Long Beach, California. New Vision “Street” and “Tour” models differ from each other primarily in the addition or subtraction of the large top trunk but are otherwise essentially the same machine. Power comes from an air/oil-cooled Freedom V-Twin that drives the rest of the lineup. One expects, however, that the 100-cubic-inch displacement will be increased so that power and torque can be boosted to shoulder the heavier load this bike will carry. The same six-speed-with-overdrive gearbox is fitted. Most of the technical details have yet to be released.

Beneath the dramatically styled bodywork is a very interesting aluminum frame and subframe, while the fuel tanks (yes, there are two) ride up in the “shoulders” of the faring and are joined by a crossover tube. There are plenty of other cool features, including an iPod-ready sound system and cruise control. As 2008 models, the bikes won't go on sale until this fall. For the full story see the March issue of Cycle World.
