For the very first time in IBOTY history, readers were asked to vote online for the International Bike of the Year. This election took place independent of the IBOTY selection by journalists. Almost 2000 visitors from 32 countries filled in the online form. Points were awarded the same as for the journalists; three points for first, two for second and one for third.
First pick? Ducati’s 1098, same as the journalists’ choice. Second place went to Ducati’s DesmosediciRR and third place went to the 1098S, another Duc! With 1887 points to the 1098 and 1098S, it’s clear that Ducati has won over the voting public as well as the global moto-journalist community.
