We all know it’s not what you ride, but how you ride, that it’s better to ride a slow bike fast than a fast bike slow, and that nothing beats a sporting middleweight for balanced perfection. But we are motorcycle enthusiasts, gearheads, metal freaks. We want power, and the ability to go fast as hell, even if we usually lack the inclination to do so. And sometimes, when nobody’s looking, we like to twist the handgrip to the stop to just see what happens.
So for those of us with an uncontrollable addiction to speed, we present the 10 fastest production bikes on the road. Click on them in order, from “slowest”—the BMW K1200S, only the speediest two-wheeler ever to roll out of the BMW factory—to fastest, which is either the Suzuki Hayabusa or the Kawasaki ZX-14. That number-one spot is yet to be determined, at least until we can send an ’08 ’Busa to our secret top-speed testing site, but we’re guessing it’ll nuzzle right up the 186-mph limit self-imposed by the manufacturers several years back when it looked like the Speed Wars were getting out of hand. No such thing, we say!
