Ducati Diavel Titanium - FIRST LOOK

Deliveries of this new flagship Diavel start soon.

The upmarket Titanium edition of the Ducati Diavel goes on sale soon. Only 500 of these special Diavel Titanium models will be built, and they will sell, in Italy, for a cool 28,740 euros (nearly $32,000 at current exchange rates). Thanks to the liberal use of titanium and carbon fiber (which brings the curb weight down to a claimed 452 lb.), this power cruiser à la Bolognese has a very exclusive and sophisticated look.

Titanium sheet is formed to create the tank and seat covers, then treated to give it a deep “denim” look and obtain different color schemes. Carbon fiber is adopted for the larger and more muscular air intakes, as well as the fenders. Marzocchi developed a special black-on-black version of its mighty 50mm inverted fork. For the smoothest possible action, the sliders are DLC plated. Black ceramic coating is applied to the exhaust manifold for a tough matte-black look, and the deeply profiled seat is hand-trimmed in Alcantara on top and leather on the sides.

Extra exclusivity is ensured by several components machined from billet aluminum. The engine remains the Diavel’s standard 1198 Testastretta, which is fed by elliptical Mikuni throttle bodies and has 12.5:1 compression. That’s good for a claimed 162 horsepower at 9,250 rpm and 96.3 pound-feet of torque at 8,000 rpm.

As they say in the US, if you’re going to be a bear, you might as well be a grizzly.
