VIDEO: Three Cool Husqvarnas

At EICMA 2014, the production 701 Supermoto was joined by two surprise concepts: the Vitpilen and Svartpilen.

Now that KTM is in control at Husqvarna, did you think the Austrians would simply let the formerly Swedish marque just wither on the vine and die? Not a chance; there's simply too much equity in the Husqvarna name. And at EICMA 2014, KTM boss Stefan Pierer proved that point by being present at the press conference to help Husky reveal three new bikes: the 701 Supermoto, the Vitpilen (White Arrow), and the Svartpilen (Black Arrow). While the 701 Supermoto is a production bike based on KTM mechanicals, the other two machines are concepts, built to gauge public reaction as Husky studies a possible return to building lightweight single-cylinder streetbikes like those it built postwar.

What do you think: Should Husqvarna pursue this type of street-legal path to success, or continue to focus on building excellent off-road bikes (that undoubtedly cut into sales of those orange machines)? However you feel, Pierer has an aggressive plan to make Husky the number-three motorcycle maker in Europe by 2019.
