2015 Star Bolt C-Spec - First Look

New café racer version of the Bolt makes its debut at AIMExpo 2014.

Here's our first look at the Yamaha Star Bolt C-Spec, which was unveiled today at AIMExpo 2014 in Orlando. Thus far, the Bolt has been a huge hit for Star, and the C-Spec takes the stylish bobber in a new café racer direction.

To that end, the 2015 C-Spec, which is based on the Bolt’s familiar double-cradle frame, has clip-on bars, traditional fork boots, plus a new seat and cowl, longer fork legs (up by 9mm), and extended shocks (up by 6mm). Ride height, compared to a standard Bolt, is up 1.5 inches, and the max lean angle has increased from 33 degrees to 37. Of big help here are footpegs that have been raised 1.25 inches and moved rearward a not-insignificant 5.9.

The Bolt engine remains a fuel-injected, air-cooled 950cc (58 cubic inches) V-twin, and the new C-spec model, according to Yamaha, weighs 542 lb. wet. Accessories, as you’d expect, are abundant, and they include a micro cowl, aluminum side covers, and a lower chin fairing, plus cool stuff such as an exposed drive pulley, a fork brace, braided stainless steel lines and, perhaps most significant, performance shocks with 20 percent more travel and adjustable preload and rebound damping.

The Bolt C-Spec, available in Liquid Silver and Envy Green colors, arrives at Star dealerships in January, priced at $8,690.
