Be A Two-Wheel Chef While You Ride

Tip #195 from the pages of The Total Motorcycling Manual

There are more than 800,000 restaurants in the United States—about one eatery for every 12 motorcyclists. It’s easy to find a place to eat on the road. Still, everyone loves cookouts. Why not kill two birds with one stone and cook while you ride?

The basic idea is to securely wrap your meal, and use the heat generated by your bike to cook it. Double-wrap it or risk losing dinner and having to clean BBQ sauce off your engine. Tin foil, chef’s tongs, and wire to secure your dinner are key. Be sure to keep it away from air intakes and throttle linkage. Liquid-cooled bikes give more regulated heat (but watch out for the engine fan).

Another hot chef tip—the fins on an air-cooled bike provide a professional-looking grill finish.
