Kenny Noyes Press Release:
American Kenny Noyes, after four years riding 600cc Moto2 machines, returned to the Spanish 1000cc Extreme Stock class and took a strong fourth place in his first ride on the Speed Racing Suzuki GSX-R.
Kenny started from the second row and scrapped briefly with eventual winner Ivan Silva (BMW) but had to settle for fourth behind Silva, reigning Spanish Champion Carmelo Morales (Kawasaki) and series leader Xavier Fores (Ducati).
“It was good to be back on a big bike again. I want to thank Speed Racing for taking me on for the final three races and Dunlop for giving us a development tire to match the other three guys up front on Michelin. We missed the set-up a bit and I wasn’t able to match the pace of the second and third place riders until the second half of the race when everybody was starting to slide around. I was coming back on Morales and Fores, but it was too late. We have two more races to run next weekend in Jerez and we’ll be aiming for podium finishes.”
Noyes switched from the Spanish 1000cc Extreme to the then new Moto2 class in 2010 and spent two full seasons in World Moto2 coming away from the experience with several points scoring rides including a fifth place in his final race. He also had a pole position at Le Mans, but lack of sponsorship sent him back to the CEV where he was third overall in 2012. He began this season on a Moto2 team but a lingering arm injury prevented him from being at his best.
“My doctor told me that I needed surgery and a month of rehab so I had to leave the Calvo team in July. I didn’t expect to race again until next season, but after a lot of dirt track riding I felt ready. I just decided to move back to the big bikes. I had some success with the Moto2’s, even had a podium this spring before the operation, but now I feel like I am back where I belong.”
