Hmmmmm….Interesting. Has BMW finally been outclassed by these bikes?

  • Solomono

    Please , TR650 TERRA is BMW .

BMW no longer owns Husky. It may be a “holdover” from the period when they did. However my point was why no actual BMW………????????

I had just ridden the new water-cooled R1200GS for the same issue but it wasn’t available stateside for testing, and the air/oil-cooled 1200GS didn’t win the previous comparison test vs. the Yamaha Super Tenene. A BMW F800GS was not available (we tried), hence the Triumph Tiger 800XC. The Husky is new in the 650 class, and the KLR is the anvil…

Figured there might be a technical glitch. The new GS would probably kick but.*M.S.

I’ve ridden them all (except the Husky). I bought a 2011 DR650se for $3900.00. 360 lbs. Simple. Easy to work on. A buddy has a Yamaha Tenere. Great Bike, but heavy. I honestly don’t see why someone would spend $18K for the BMW unless you wanted a rich man’s street bike in adventure clothing.

Why was there no Versys included in this test? A very solid bike with a long reputation and strong following.

  • toyfan1

my bad.. i meant the Suzuki V-Strom not being included in this test not the Versys..

I just looked at the Feb and April issue and both the Tenere and KTM weight changed between the two issues. The KTM is a somewhat changed model so that may be the reason. As Tenere owner I just find it interesting that in both issues they bikes appear to the same options but in the April issue the bike is a little more portley …can you help this is weighing Heavy on my mind.
