Jonah Street checked in today one stage away from reaching Buenos Aires and the finish of what has proven to be an immensely challenging 2011 Dakar Rally.
Here’s the latest, straight from Street:
“Today was nicely uneventful. I cruised for most of the day, preserving my body and machine to finish this tough rally. I pushed it a bit this morning because I felt good. But, really, I’m hoping to get in tomorrow incident-free.
“I can’t wait to shower, sleep in a bed and eat a big steak! I’ve only showered once during this race. I stink. Everyone stinks. It’s going to be good to hit the finish line.
“I’m already thinking about next year, which is good and bad. I’ve learned a lot about what we need to do to win in 2012, and I’ve got some ideas. I can see a lot of work ahead.
“Thanks again to everyone who’s supported me this year. I couldn’t have done it without you!”
