2011 Triumph Triple Adventure Bike

Yann Bakonyi's early illustration of what the Tiger 825 might look like.

Triumph is back in the adventure bike game with two new models that will be announced later this year. Teaser videos can be seen at Triumph’s micro site triumphadventure.com. What we can tell you is that the bike/bikes in the video clearly sound like that marvelous Triple soundtrack that Triumph lovers have become so fond of. Rumors of a new Tiger 825 started a while back, which we recently reported on right here at cycleworld.com.

Triumph’s current Tiger 1050 is clearly aimed more at the asphalt end of the long-travel adventure bike spectrum, but these new bikes appear to be going after BMW’s F800GS, a bike which has redefined what a midsized adventure/heavyweight dual-sport motorcycle can be.

I own a Tiger 1050 and I agree with you….it’s a little too ‘street’ for the true spirit of the most recent Tigers. It’s just a little too big for any real dirt fun. The smaller ‘Tiger Cub’ seems like it owuld be just the thing to kick some proverbial sand in the face of BMW. And none too soon!
